Keeping Our Planet Healthy

One of our favorite days of the year is Earth Day, which began in 1970 and helped spark the modern environmental movement.

Each year on April 22, millions of people around the world celebrate environmentally-friendly practices and work to raise awareness about toxic emissions from vehicles, power plants and factories, and harsh chemicals that hurt plant and animal life.

Earth Day also helped influence the creation of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, which enforces environmental laws and protects human health and the environment.

As a responsible and sustainable social venture, NADI works hard to be a good steward of our planet.

We use only organically grown fruits that are never treated with pesticides or other harmful chemicals. Each fall, our rosehips are gently hand-harvested from rose bushes that grow wild in the forests of the Caucasus Mountains of the country of Georgia, which helps the plants rejuvenate and grow stronger.

There are so many easy lifestyle changes you can make to reduce waste and pollution, and minimize your carbon footprint. Here are a few things you can try:

● Avoid single-use plastic items such as soda bottles, straws and grocery store bags
● Turn off the water faucet while brushing your teeth
● Try to shorten your showers by a few minutes, which saves several gallons of water
● Consider trying services that upcycle and resell previously owned clothing, such as ThredUp or Patagonia’s ReCrafted shop
● Choose food and beverages that use organic and sustainably grown ingredients
● Start using plant-based cleaners instead of those made with harsh chemicals
● When running errands, combine them into a single trip
● Start a compost pile! Put vegetable and food scraps, egg shells, coffee grounds and other kitchen waste (excluding meat) into the pile and in about a year you will have rich soil to use in gardens and flower beds
